Code of Conduct & Human Rights

Canadian Natural is committed to maintaining the highest level of business ethics and principles to ensure that its integrity, through the actions of its employees, is beyond reproach in the day-to-day conduct of its business and that it is in compliance with all applicable laws. To ensure all employees know and understand what is expected of them in the performance of their duties, the company adopted the Code of Integrity, Business Ethics, and Conduct (the “Code”). All directors, officers, employees (permanent and part-time), contractors and consultants are required to acknowledge and sign the Code when joining the Company. Code of Integrity, Business Ethics and Conduct

The Company’s Corporate Management Committee is responsible for the implementation and administration of the Code. Each Manager is responsible for seeing that all staff under his or her supervision are thoroughly familiar with the Code and are applying it consistently in all of their business dealings. No staff has the authority to violate any of the Code’s provisions or to direct or authorize others to do so.

The Code applies to the Company and to all of its subsidiaries, domestic and foreign, over which the Company has control. Our human rights clauses and screening fall under our Code of Integrity, Business Ethics and Conduct and our Statement of Human Rights. This Code identifies, among other things, our commitment to the protection of human rights that apply within our areas of operation. We also maintain the integrity of our business processes through transparency and the implementation of appropriate internal controls.

Every staff member is expected to remain current with the Code and any amendments that may be made from time to time. On an annual basis, staff members and the Board of Directors are required to complete computer-based training on the Code and to acknowledge their acceptance and compliance with the Code.

Confidential Line

For employees seeking advice on ethical/unlawful behavior, human rights matters, or for those who have questions in relation to the Code or are aware of any irregularities, Canadian Natural encourages open dialogue through a variety of pathways, including Human Resources, supervisors, and members of the management team, and reporting via Canadian Natural’s third-party managed integrity hotline, ConfidenceLine.

ConfidenceLine is a confidential and anonymous workplace and business ethics hotline available to employees, contractors and service providers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Reports or concerns of violations of our Code can be submitted either by web based reporting, or telephone through ConfidenceLine. A summary of ConfidenceLine can be found here. If we become aware of any violation of the Code or any applicable government laws, rules or regulations, or believe that a violation may take place in the future, we take appropriate action.

Modern Slavery Act

The Government of Canada’s, Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act (“Modern Slavery Act”) requires entities to publicly report on measures taken to identify, evaluate and mitigate its exposure to the use of modern slavery (including forced labour and child labour) in its corporate supply chains.

Canadian Natural’s Modern Slavery Act Annual Report outlines the actions we have taken to identify and mitigate the potential use of modern slavery practices in our business in the applicable reporting year.
