Cleveland Clinic Reviews

After my recent, minor, in-office procedure, the Cleveland Clinic billed $750 for 15 minutes of physical therapy.
That’s $3,000 PER HOUR for PT.
My next PT appointment was for 45 minutes at the YMCA in Lakewood. The Cleveland Clinic was going to bill $1000, and I was going to be responsible for $556 of that cost.
For 45 minutes of shoulder rehab at the local Y.
The Clinic’s charges included more than $500 for “hospital services” … so apparently local gyms count as hospitals, now.
The quality of care and the reputation of the cleveland clinic are excellent.
But at what cost?

Clinical advice should be factual and based on scientific observation. Is there a place for using " people identified as male at birth" in any reputable advice??

Shady

My experience with the doctor was great, but everything else was a nightmare. Prices were never discussed with me and I was assured that my insurance would be covering it when I did ask. My insurance did not pick up my 3,000 dollar bill at first like they said. On top of that I received an invoice that my lab results were a 400 dollar charge and then the next month was billed for the same lab appointment but the price changed to an 800 dollar charge. When I called billing to explain that, that doesn't seem right, I was told that there was nothing she could do to change the codes that were submitted (even though the codes were changed to charge me more). It is impossible to talk to someone that is helpful because they either put you on hold for 15 minutes or you can't talk to the people that actually gave you the service. It is sad because I actually really liked the doctor, but unfortunately will never be returning again because of the back end stuff that I have been dealing with for over 2 months.

Choose a different hospital system

We've loved our provider, but in the past few years, the whole Cleveland Clinic system has just become a poop-show. Used to be able to call after hours and talk with an actual provider in the practice; now I wait on hold for anywhere from 15 minutes to 30+ (finally giving up and just hanging up) to speak to a nurse that apparently is just Googling symptoms and finding questions to ask from there. It's honestly less than useless. And then, when I try to contact a Cleveland Clinic urgent care for after hours support, no one answer (yes, within their business hours). Literally waited for an hour, even called back to make sure I didn't have the wrong number, and no one answered. I eventually called a UH urgent care and spoke to a real, live, helpful professional in under a minute. What a disappointment. Not to mention we find it harder and harder to see our actual provider at the practice unless it's scheduled months ahead of time.

Dr. Margaret Tsai

Dr. Margaret Tsai (Amherst, OH) is a wonderful doctor. So wonderful, in fact, that it next to impossible to make or change and appointment. HOWEVER - I have had THREE appointments canceled with her since April of 2023. Each time, I reschedule, the next available is months away. She canceled again today (25 July 24) and the next available isn't until Feb 2025. That's a SEVEN MONTHS from today. What kind of doctor does that? As nice a person as she is - I'm done with her.

Worse than before I went

I made the appointment with CC in Weston because I have long COVID and post concussion. I was matched with a NP who was not familiar with those diagnosis. I have migraines so she concentrated on 'headaches'.
We did go over a few other things, but her focus was headache.
I looked at my MyChart and saw she had said neurological tests were normal but she did not do them, this was so important because I would have failed them. She told me I was too complicated and referred me to another doc, a headache specialist. I spent so much money coming to Fl and I am so confused.

Injured due to a mistake during surgery. Had to go elsewhere for answers. Cleveland "protects" Cleveland Clinic from law suits - it's very much set up in their favor!.
Don't get care there.
Don't send your family there.
They are butchers!

JULIE scheduler for MAIN CAMPUS

I am a military Veteran my name is Renee S and, I was trying to schedule a consult from the VA using community care between the VA Louis Stokes and Main Campus in Cleveland and cutting to the chase; I have been getting the run around since 6/14/24 they would say “they didn’t get the fax” and I should check back in 7-10 days blah blah until I spoke with a scheduler named JULIE! She is amazing hands down! She scheduled me and assisted me in getting the necessary information she needed to complete the task all the while apologizing for the TERRIBLE treatment the previous guys treatment who was rude and unhelpful and also hung up on me mid conversation! I am so very thankful for her! She truly cares! Promote her!

Beware!!

Beware! Dr. Vincent Boytim is one doctor that I would NOT want to recommend. The physical was not done well, and he did NOT listen to me. He ordered the WRONG test and would not admit it even after I contacted the Ombudsman's office. Now I am left with a hefty bill and need to order new tests with a NEW doctor. Shame on you. Don't talk down to me. Get off your righteous pedestal and remember that you are providing a service to your patients. Wow! Cleveland Clinic is supposed to be top-notch. I guess they have good and bad doctors like everyone else.

No use with their second opionion

Their second opinion program is really bad - they just collect money, nothing else. The nurse attitude is very bad, and the doctor report is just like an AI report. I have heart surgery question, even I don't have any symptom, they said I am qualified for surgery and should do within a few weeks without say any other things. No any valuable point in report. Receipt doesn't say anything, even in the program they say the cost can be covered by FSA/HSA. But once you paid, they will say their receipt is very simple and most likely HSA/FSA won't cover the cost. Definitely won't worth going even you are not their regular patients.

Cleveland Clinic Negligence

Still cant walk or use my left hand 3 years after my surgery. They made a mistake (didn't recognize and act upon extreme blood loss during surgery) which resulted in injury to peripheral nerves. I suspect that they didn't address the blood loss to avoid a "sentinel event" that would have adversely impacted their numbers/stats.
Meanwhile, I am left to suffer the consequences.
Do NOT seek treatment at Cleveland Clinic for you or your family! Numbers are more important to them than the patients!

Cleveland Clinic Weston

Cleveland Clinic Weston, Florida charges a $293.00 facility fee just to see a Doctor in the Facility. This isn't for an emergency visit. It's just a regular scheduled Doctor's appointment. The Doctor is considered in Network with the Health Insurance Company. A co- pay should only apply. Cleveland Clinic nor your insurance company advise you of any fees. I was not told when I made the appointment. They only advised me of my co-pay amount of $50.00 when I went to my appointment, They collected the $50.00 co-pay and said nothing about an additional fee. Then you get hit with the bill of $293.00 in the mail.
This should be against the law.

Grandfather sat in the waiting room all…

Grandfather sat in the waiting room all night before he finally just left. Then they are trying to send my grandmother bills for seeing the doctor even though he never even saw the Dr or anyone. Sorriest bunch of crooks on the planet and they should be ashamed of themselves.

My VA hosp referred me to the Cleveland Clinic…

I was referred to the Cleveland Clinic North, Stuart, FL via my West Palm Beach VA Hospital Community Service and filled out a pre-appointment form , detailing my diagnosis of paralytic ileus that I had been afflicted with over the past 5 months since I was discharged from a blocked intestinal track that had opened up (confirmed later by a CAT scan at the VA Hospital).

My first appointment at CC North was with a Kevin Wissinger, MD (a general surgeon rather than a G.I. specialist) who asked me "What brings you here" indicating he had not read my pre-appointment detailed medical report. The only thing he did for an examination was to shove his hand into my herniated intestinal protrusion that caused the first serious pain since it developed over 50 years ago.

He then referred me to an appointment with a "GI Specialist" (Gastroenterologist) but instead - turned out to be Jingyi Duan, PA).

Later - I was billed $300 for this initial "referral" interview session.

My next appointment was with what I understood to be a Gastroenterologist - but instead was Jingyi Duan, PA and as in my first interview, she asked what brings you here?" suggesting she had not read my detailed account of my paralytic ileus.

I described in detail how I have been managing it.

Without any examination, she began suggesting lay treatments for normal constipation: I could try a potty stool and try laxatives. I explained I had tried all that and was using Milk of Magnesia every 3rd day, drinking lots of liquids and avoiding all the foods that might be hard to digest. I asked her to exam my abdomen and lay prone on the examination bench and she felt around for about a minute without any comment. She then wrapped up our session by recommending I try MiraLax instead of Milk of Magnesia (and take it every 4 days instead of the 3 day interval I was using with Milk of Magnesia).

She mentioned I could schedule follow up appointment in several months (but I declined as there was nothing to suggest I would receive any real help for my condition).

Later I was billed $630 for this appointment.

At a cost to the VA of about $1000, I received no advice to manage my paralytic ileus beyond what is widely available online for treating constipation.

Other medical references online for addressing chronic paralytic ileus involve blood tests for infection risks, checking potassium, etc. levels and invasive surgery.
